This Season So Far, IMHO.

Favorites

Friday Night Lights. Love the stories, love the acting. And football is really just the backdrop.  Completely obsessed with this show.  Am completely torn between marrying Matt Saracen and just having a drunken crazy sex fling with Tim Riggins.

Grey's Anatomy. Has not missed a beat. Every episode gives me something to hang on to.  Bailey is rocking out even moreso this year.  Carolyn is happy.

Standoff.  "VM for adults."  Haven't erased a single one off the DVR.  Like the filler characters a lot as well.

Bones. A forensic procedural with more humor, more chemistry, and more goofy than the others.  "CSI for happ(ier) people."

Middling

Veronica Mars.  Weak this season so far. Disjointed / VM making decisions badly and in a way I don't believe given her character.  Feels like there are new writers that don't know the show.  Last season had a strong beginning & end with a weak middle.  So far this year have not been impressed.

House. Watching season 1 on DVD concurrently, am really struck by how nasty and mean things are this year.  Sometimes difficult to watch.

Lost.  Maybe watching season 2 on DVD in a rush and then jumping into season 3 made it seem like it's moving faster than it really is.  Enjoying it again, and really liking a number of the characters, except not the "new" ones who supposedly have been there all along.  But the extended break may make me forget everything I was enjoying.

The Nine. Liked it at first, thought the first two episodes were strong, but it really tailed off after that.  What is PartyofFive doing on so many shows lately?  Lame.

Losing Their Grip

NUMB3RS.  Used to love this show like a mad woman.  So disappointed in the season so far, after season 2 had already tailed off.  Will write a post about it someday but let's just say this was my dad's ONE SHOW and every week now he is sad and moaning over what it used to be and how they've ruined it.

Studio 60. We've discussed. It's not been what it seemed like anyone wanted it to be.  And Blondie MissBiblePants (michelle, kudos on the best name ever) is not a character anyone can get interested in.  It's been better the last few episodes, but not enough to make me really care if I miss it or not.

The OC.  Oh so very very bad. But have to say, this show IS willing to laugh at itself. Summer going through all the stages of grief in five days, as pointed out by the unseen shrink, as the show needs to move on from Marissa. And it's a stroke of genius having Taylor go after bad boy wanna-be Ryan Atwood.

Gave Up On

Heroes. I know the rest of y'all love this show but I only liked ONE character (Hiro) and hated the rest (even hate some of the actors. Soooo sick of Greg Grunberg).  Could not keep me interested.

The Wire. Even though I really liked some of the kids (Dukie) this year, I just couldn't get into it w/ such a decreased role for McNulty.

Without a Trace. Never enough time given to the relationships on that show.  Never a single moment of humor or comic relief. What a drag.

Gilmore Girls.  Actually gave up on it last year but wound up catching a few episodes accidentally.  Thought the writing really started to SUCK ASS then / think it sucks EVEN MORE ASS now.  It's as if the people writing it now have never actually watched the show.

Looking Forward To

The Closer. New episodes in December!

24. I'm so many years behind on this show.  But maybe I'll go on a Christmas TV watching marathon.  Or as Crowded House sings "Four Seasons in One Day."

GG: "But I Love Coffee!"

I haven't watched Gilmore Girls in months, and tonight I just randomly caught 10 minutes of it, but Rory's breakdown in the shrink's office was hilarious.  Oh no!  What if I run into him at the coffee cart!  The Tragedy!  A boy that loves me! What will I do!

If only we ALL had her problems, eh, Jackie?  I know you're with me on this!  :)

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

OK, maybe I'm a little cranky because I totally lost my voice this week. So I can rant in type rather than out loud, aren't you glad?

Sunday: New Grey's Anatomy! Yay! A reason to live!! Oh, wait, it's a goddamn RECAP show. Thanks guys! I really needed to see the first season all over again.

Monday: New Heather Graham show. Now seeing her and Nadia Dajani together just screamed of Sex and The City ripoff, weren't they already paired as friends on that show? And wait, can we bring in a Love Actually ripoff too, with a swarthy office guy that looked just like the guy in that movie? And wait, it's directed by a Michael Patrick something and created by a Carrie something. Did I just fall into Doppelganger land? And while it wasn't all that terrible, I certainly wouldn't call it original either.

Tuesday: Thank god it's new Gilmore Girls. I have not joined the ranks of those who think the show stinks now. I still love it. I'm thrilled Lorelai and Rory are together again. And look, awwwww, she got her wedding dress. But, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?? I"m sorry, not only is that the fugliest dress in the world, it was the most ill fitting as well. Lauren Graham has a fabulous figure but she looked like a sausage with 4 boobs stuffed into that dress. Hello, stylist anyone?

Sigh. Tune in again at the end of the week when I will probably have a hacking cough and plenty more to say.
