Everyone is connected. No, really.

So I finally got around to watching 6 Degrees and I think it was pretty decent. Certainly not as deep as other JJ Abrams fare, but pleasant enough--and I love watching shows set in NYC that make use of the environment. It's fun just to spot places I recognize. So in the spirit of Carolyn's Premiere Post, I give you

What I liked: Campbell Scott. Hope Davis. Those two alone are reason enough to keep watching (if you haven't seen Secret Lives of Dentists in particular, rent it now. But for a really fantastic  Campbell Scott movie, rent Roger Dodger). The mystery of the box Mae/Claire carries with her. Most of the individual stories seem interesting.

What I didn't care for: how quickly Laura and Whitney became BFF. It didn't seem natural that they would meet in a nail salon and the next thing you know Laura is helping Whitney catch her cheating boyfriend. That was the most forced story of the episode.

A friend brought up another good point: too many connections were revealed up front. I suppose it's part of the premise of the show to have everyone meet so quickly (one minute you're strangers, next minute you're fighting off thugs together), but now that I think about it, it does make me wonder what else there is to uncover that connects these people. So,

What concerns me: where does it go from here? All I can think about is how readily this show lends itself to Lost-esque flashbacks: what Damian did to land in prison, who Steven was married to, etc. And I really hope it doesn't go there.

Then again, that which concerns me is also that which will make me watch again.
